Daybreak Cometh

The morning daylight not visible, Marnie made a habit of getting an early start to every day. She was always up long before the birds had arisen to sing their way into a new day.

The morning air still crisp, she got dressed accordingly. She wore pants, a heavy shirt, a fall jacket and, of course, her cap. Off to another fishing adventure.

With her backpack in tow, she was prepared for fishing. She had already packed suntan lotion, binoculars, bug spray, waders, shorts and a t-shirt for when the day warmed up. Also included, was a small lunch just in case the fishing didn’t go so well.

A fairly short jaunt for her to the favorite fishing spot, she picked up her pole and headed out to the isolated beach. She enjoyed the quietness of the walk which enabled her to get lost in her thoughts. She liked hearing the birds who would sing their daily tunes. The frogs would grunt with satisfaction and hopefully some hungry fish would enjoy the worms.

Arriving at the desired spot, she pulled the backpack off her back and set it down on the ground. She dunked her fingers into the fresh water and it, too, was chilled as the air above.

She dug into the backpack, pulled out the can of worms and wiggled a lively one onto her fishing line. Also a wise idea was to put on the waders, so she retrieved them as well. She then pulled the binoculars out and hung them around her neck.

With pole in hand, she ventured to the nearby rippling creek and walked in knee deep. She cast her line far into the water and saw the splash of excess water ripple away from where the line sunk.

Daybreak slowly began to show its face as she reeled in the line with only a small bite. Something else caught her eye about 50 feet away. It hung low to the water, hovering motionless in mid air. Holding her pole in one hand, she grabbed the binoculars from around her neck to get a better look. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing. An inverted egg shaped vehicle was simultaneously flashing neon lights of every colour.

With the birds awake now and chirping in tune, they appeared to be the only other witnesses to this incredible sight. Looking hard and long for what or who was crafting this vehicle, it appeared to be a grey creature approximately 4 feet in stature with huge eyes in an oval face. Marnie noticed it had no nose and only a slit for a mouth.

Why was it here of all places watching her? She was just trying to catch a big fish for dinner and perhaps lunch the day after. It was her solitary way of enjoying the day and this UFO had no business interfering in her plans.

Half awake from another night of restless sleep, she got up feeling uneasy. Not being able to shake off the same ending to this dream for several weeks now, the thought haunted her. Perhaps in a deeper conscious dream state, there awakes more of the truth than we give credit to in the daily goings on in our everyday life.
